December Shopping Dates at Our Kids' Closet

Welcome to winter!  The cold weather has arrived and personally I wasn't quite ready for it.  Speaking of not quite ready, Christmas is right around the corner along with all the shopping, cooking, and expenses that come with it.  We can't help with all of it, but at Our Kids' Closet we  might be able to help with some warm winter clothing and beautiful Christmas outfits to wear during the Holiday Season. If you're in need of clothing, boots, jackets, hats or mittens this is a great month to stop on in. Our Kids' Closet exists only because of the generous donation of clothing. Please keep us in mind and drop off some of those clothes that you no longer need - newborn through size 14/16. Our 24 hour donation bin is located at St. Boniface Church or drop off on any of our open shopping days at Columbia St. Mary's Clinic - both in Germantown, WI.

As always if you live in Washington, Waukesha, or Ozaukee county, are of low income and your children are in need of clothing (newborn through 14/16), you are welcome to do some shopping. We've got open shopping dates every month and would look forward to seeing you.

We are open for shopping on the 1st Thursday (6-8 pm) and 1st Saturday (9-11 am) every month our next shopping dates are:

  • Thursday, December 3rd 6-8 pm
  • Saturday, December 5th 9-11 am

Thanks to the students from Grafton Elementary School

A big thank- you to the Student Council students, and teachers of Grafton Elementary school for hosting a clothing drive for Our Kids' Closet. The drive was a big success - look at all those boxes of clothes!! We really appreciated all the clothing they brought us.  Good job and Bravo!!!

This kind of service project is making a real difference to real people; we will be distributing the clothing that you collected at our next shopping days.  Their support of our mission to help others that are in need is something that we know the families appreciate, and so do we!  You are making a real difference. Keep it up.

TCI's Mitten Tree

A big thanks to all of the folks at TCI, LLC of Germantown!. They gathered and donated a bunch of great items for our shoppers. And they did it with style: They hosted a “mitten tree” as you'll see in the picture.

It was great, and VERY successful.  The new hats, gloves, scarves and clothing will all go to those who need them.

The generosity of the people and businesses that we have within our community never fails to amaze me.

Thanks TCI!!!

Thanks to Germantown Neighborhood Stitchery group

Over the last 5 years, a wonderful group of ladies from Germantown - the Neighborhood Stitchery Group - have been sending these great gifts to Our Kids Closet. We are very appreciative.

This year we decided to bring your donations home and take a picture beside our Christmas tree before setting them out for our patrons.  What fun that was…each item was cuter than the next!  Oh yeah - and the hats are sooo neat!

Each gift will all find a new home with some lucky family very quickly.

Thanks again (and again)!!!

County Line School Girl Scouts sponsor Pajama Party

Our Kids' Closet would like to express our gratitude to the Girl Scouts from County Line School in Germantown for their generous donation of new socks, pajamas and underwear. The Girl Scouts held a successful Pajama Party at school and collected all sorts of beautiful items for our families.

This is the second time this great troop has raised donations for Our Kids’ Closet. So once again, thank you to the girls for keeping us in mind while they shared of their time and talent for children in the community.

Tri Sigma Oshkosh wants to help keep you warm

Thanks to all the young women of Tri Sigma Oshkosh Sorority for their donation of blankets for all of our families. These are super soft, big and wonderful!

Living Word Lutheran High helps out

We want to say thank you to the staff & students of Living Word Lutheran High School for their  generous donation to our families.

Most of our families just need a little help to get them through some difficult times, and by holding a clothing drive you provided a much needed service for them.

We really enjoyed working with the students during their visit and teaching them about our operations. They were all fully engaged and really wanted to help.

Your school's day of service is a wonderful example of reaching out to the community and showing those around us how much good “just a little bit of help” can truly be.

Leadership Germantown Donation

Once again Leadership Germantown stepped up to help the families of Our Kids' Closet.  They chose to reach out to the community with a combination clothing and funding drive that was hugely successful.  All the planning and coordinating involved with this type of project is very much appreciated. Another really neat thing about this project was that they worked with some of the students at Kennedy Middle School involving them in the clothing drive.  What a  great way to introduce the students to the joy of giving back to the community.  Thanks to all that contributed and all involved in this project!

The MOMS Club of Germantown-East did a really unique gift for all of our families: a summer essentials kit. A bag containing sun tan lotion, mosquito repellent, hand sanitizer and more... all the stuff your kids need for summer.  How neat is that!

We have been handing them out during our June and July shopping dates. The families just love them!!
